King Charles VI declares that Knight Jean de Carrouges settle his dispute with his squire by challenging him to a duel. Based on the true story of France’s last trial by combat in the Middle Ages. Knight Jean de Carrouges challenges his former friend Jacques Le Gris to a duel after Jean’s wife Marguerite accuses Le Gris of rape. Told in multiple Rashomon-style points of view. In medieval France, Jean de Carrouges, a knight, challenges his friend, Squire Jacques Le Gris, to a lawful duel after Jean’s wife, Marguerite, accuses Jacques of raping her. The movie shows the events leading up to the duel from three different truth versions. The truth according to Jean, the truth according to Jacques and the truth according to Lady Marguerite.::Frank Liesenborgs In 14th-century France, as he gradually loses favour with Count Pierre d’Alençon, battle-scarred veteran knight Sir Jean de Carrouges has a falling-out with his brother-in-arms and former friend, Squire Jacques Le Gris, after saving his life in the Battle of Poitiers. Then, much to Jean’s horror, his beautiful wife, Marguerite de Thibouville, accuses Le Gris of rape. To defend her honour, wronged Jean accuses Jacques of the hideous crime against Marguerite before the court of His Majesty, King Charles VI, requesting a duel–a custom outlawed years ago. However, truth is in the eye of the beholder. As a result, the interpretation of three different realities and three conflicting points of view culminates in a grueling match to the death. Who will emerge victorious in the last duel?::Nick Riganas
